How to Conceal Dark Circles Through Makeup

Step 1: De-puff

Cool the area under your eyes with under-eye gels. But first, put those gels in the fridge for 15 minutes. If you have no gels for de-puffing, you can use fridge-cooled sheet masks.

Step 2: Moisturize

Using a moisturizing eye cream for your dark circles will help your concealing cream stick to your skin. Make sure to use the right moisturizer type. Water-based moisture for oily skin and oil-based for dry skin.

Step 3: Conceal

Use a cream concealer shade that’s 1 or 2 times darker than your skin color. Apply it using an upside-down triangle pattern under your eyes.

Step 4: Layer

When you’re done with applying the first concealing layer, blend it out using a highlighting wand. It’s important you shouldn’t use formulas and shades that are reflective or sparkly.

Step 5: Finish

For the last step, apply a liquid concealer not on the entire area you’ve applied the cream concealer and highlighting wand but on the inner corners of your eye. Then, finish up with a translucent or illuminating setting powder.

Dark eye circles come with age. Make sure to buy the right cream for your age that has retinol, multivitamins, and moisturizing properties. Apply it during your morning skincare routine.

2. Get more iron

Anemia is another cause of dark eye circles. Eat foods that are rich in iron like red meat, seafood, and dark leafy veggies. Take multivitamins that have more iron ratio. But first, consult your doctor to know if you’re anemic.

3. Sleep well at night

As mentioned, dark circles appear if you follow unhealthy sleeping patterns. Not just a lack of hours of evening sleep but also too much bedtime will cause blood vessels and dark tissues to show up under your eyes.

4. Drink a lot of water

When your body doesn’t get enough water, your eyes will begin to look sunken and dull. Always carry a bottle of water wherever you go and keep yourself hydrated. Better yet, try electrolyte skincare and lessen your alcohol consumption.

5. Avoid stress

Stressed at work and at home? Avoid people and things out that cause you problems and overthinking. Try to lessen your overtime and don’t overwork yourself in your job, studies, or motherhood responsibilities.
