3 Mental Tricks to Help You Crush Any Challenge
NFL and NBA auditions are finally over. Didn’t have the chance to join? Or did you but weren’t able to make the team? If you still want to, you have to start preparing for next year as early as now. Here’s something you must know to achieve the seemingly impossible: Start with the mind.
You can use your mind to make your life better. Overcome any challenge, whether it’s waking up early in the morning to do a workout, the fear of failure, making healthier food choices, and developing your dance skill.
Here are 3 mental strategies that help.
Tailor your challenge to your ability.
Anyone can conquer a challenge. But there’s one reason why a lot of women don’t in preparation for the auditions: They don’t customize the challenge to their potential. You should not set too ambitious goals, nor should you set the bar too low. You are the best person to gauge your abilities. As of this point, can you do a 10-mile run (about 45 minutes)? If not, cut that distance in half. Give yourself breaks.

Distance yourself from the drama.
People have the tendency to overreact when faced with a challenge. Maybe you’re pressured by others’ fitness accomplishments or have failed yourself repeatedly because of over commitment. First of all, know that you do not have to react to every mishap. Did something or someone upset you? Don’t let that have power over you. See things from a greater perspective. Continue working on yourself.
Link pain to procrastination.
Achieving your pro cheer audition prep goals involves A LOT OF HARD WORK. But working on these goals is nothing compared to the massive pain that results from procrastinating. Procrastination is a dream killer. “I can indulge in this treat now and start tomorrow.” The truth is, you’ll never know how you’ll feel tomorrow. Don’t wait until you are in a better mood or the conditions are right. From now on, think of the consequences of a challenge that’s not acted upon. The execution doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to be done.
