6 Reasons Why It's Okay to Fail

I’m going to start by asking you questions.

Have you experienced getting rejected in an audition?

Were you ever told that you’re not getting a routine right?

Did you step on the scale after days and weeks of working out to find that you only lost a few pounds?

Has anyone ever told you that maybe you’re not cut for pro cheerleading?

Because here’s a hard truth: It hurts.

But we have all been there, one way or another or even all.

The question, is “how did you handle it?”

Failure - it's one word that stirs fear in many.

Still, a lot of people don’t realize the role that failure plays in our lives. No success has ever been achieved without failure. Even the richest, most successful athletes have had struggles, rejection, and failure.

It’s okay to fail.

Life is almost always unfair but you can choose to wallow in self-pity or you can look at the bright side.

Here are 6 reasons why it’s okay to fail sometimes. Trust me. It’s not so bad!

1. Failure teaches you.

Success teaches you, but failure teaches in amazing ways. While it’s easy to be discouraged when you fail, look at it as a way for you to build yourself. See, failure is a boulder that came crashing down on you. It’s either you let the boulder destroy you completely or you take it and create stairs towards your goal out of them.

2. It’s inevitable.

Even the pro cheerleaders that you look up to had experienced failures. To be honest, even when you’re there already, there will still be times when things don’t go your way. So don’t feel like it’s just you going through this. It’s part of the process to reach our dreams!

3. It makes you stronger.

Okay, I don’t know if you have ever met someone who claims to have never failed. Good for her. But you know what’s the difference with someone who had everything going smoothly over someone who experienced failure? Having the strength to overcome any challenge. Failing once or twice or more makes you braver. While failure often ignites fear, you unleash courage and face it head-on.

4. It expands your horizons.

When you experience failure and choose not to quit, you open yourself for other possibilities. You become more willing to try and explore and to take more risks.

5. Failure helps you improve.

You probably heard this before but it’s true: There’s always room for improvement. You’re already a great dancer, but for some reason, you can’t seem to get the dance routine that the instructor is teaching you. You know why? Because maybe the type of dance is not your forte, but you know what’s the good thing? You can learn it. We’re not born knowing everything, but we can welcome new skills, even new dance genres, only if we don’t give up!

6. Failure teaches you appreciation.

It’s simple. You worked hard for success. You strived to reach your goal. Nothing beats knowing that you’re getting to where you want to be all because you overcame challenges and failures.

American Singer-songwriter, Johnny Cash, once said, “You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”

Fail and then take more risks. Fail and improve. Fail and try again. You don’t forget the mistakes. Instead, learn from them.

But don’t fail and lose heart. The only real failure is giving up completely on your pro cheer dreams!!!
