8 Long Term and Short Term Pro Cheer Goals to Set This Year
Have you set some goals as an auditioning pro cheerleader this year? If not, then you need to start thinking about your preparation before the big day comes. Setting clear goals will help you be the best pro cheerleader you can be once you make your dream team. Without further ado, here are long and short term goals for your 2022 pro cheer year.
Short-Term Pro Cheer Goals
1. Workout at least five times a week until the auditions
Do your best to exercise during the weekdays and dedicate your weekends for relaxation, healthy meal prep, and dance practices. This will help your body build stamina, strength, flexibility, and endurance while sculpting your body and preparing it for long dance practices.
2. Master applying the right makeup style for pro cheerleaders
Pro cheerleaders use a specific makeup style. Be familiar with it and practice the application. This will allow you to quickly put it on when there are unexpected squad activities or changes in the audition schedule.
3. Practice dancing at least thrice a week
Make sure to get your body accustomed to a lot of future dance performances by allotting your weekends and one weekday for dance practice. When your audition application gets accepted, focus your dance practices on mastering the choreography given by your dream team.
4. Focus on nutrient density
Avoid foods that are processed, junk, high in saturated, trans, fat, and sugar. Go for meals that are rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. This will give you high levels of energy while making it possible to achieve your target figure and weight.
Long-Term Pro Cheer Goals
5. Lose weight and stay in shape
Be strict in your diet and workout program. Pro cheerleaders may not be required to be slim but there has been no case of a plus-sized auditionee making a team. Judges prefer aspirants with an athletic physique as it’s a clear indicator of a high-energy person and capable dancer.
6. Master the art of dancing
Even if you’ve made it to your dream squad, never stop learning about dancing. Strive to be a better performer so that in future auditions, you’ll find your preparation journey easier. And remember, veteran auditionees and applicants with extensive dance experience have a high chance of success.
7. Stay positive and happy from audition prep and beyond the squad life
We’ve mentioned in previous articles that being a pro cheerleader can be stressful. Which is why we always remind members of the community to not forget to take breaks and do the things that make them happy. You should remember this as well.
8. Be the best pro cheerleader you can be

Making it to your dream team is not the ultimate goal of your pro cheer career. There are still challenges you need to face as a bonafide member of a squad. Examples are attending all the squad events, activities, rehearsals, helping your sisters when they need it, and many more.
Never forget these important goals. Write them down in your pro cheer journal, if you have one, so you’ll stay on the right path to a successful pro cheerleading career.
