8 Simple Ways to Track Your Progress Towards Your Pro Cheer Goals
You probably look at yourself in the mirror these days and doubt your audition preparation work. This is because you don’t track your progress - which is very important in defining whether you’ve achieved a goal or not. If you continue reading until the end, I promise you that by tracking your progress, you’ll have more chances to land a spot on your dream team when the audition day comes.
1. Plan and organize your audition goals
To track the progress of your pro cheer goals, you must set definitive steps in order to achieve them. For example, to achieve that 36-14-36 figure, you have to schedule chest workouts for different days of the week. Have a scheduled core workout on some days and glute exercises on the others. You can choose which time of the day to do your exercises.
Furthermore, include a diet plan in your audition goals. Insert makeup application, dancing, and public speaking practices in your plans as well. And, take a measurement of your body before you start your audition preparation as they’ll be useful in the days to come.
2. Stick to your pro cheer plans
When you’re done making plans for the audition day, follow every schedule you’ve organized. You can't track your progress if you haven’t made any. So, strictly adhere to your plans.
3. Have an audition preparation checklist
One way to encourage you that you’ll stick to your audition goals is to set yourself realistic deadlines. Schedules are important but combine that with a checklist and you’re sure to follow them. An example would be having a to-do list of your daily audition prep:
- One checkbox for public speaking practice at 9-10 am on Monday.
- One checkbox for every chest workout at 3-4 pm on Monday.
- And one checkbox for eating a fiber-filled meal at 6-7 pm on Monday.

4. Use accurate measuring instruments for your vital stats
When tracking audition progress, choose quantitative measurements over qualitative ones. Facing in front of the mirror alone to check for your weight and figure is vague. Use a measuring tape to measure inches of fat lost. For weight loss, use a properly calibrated and highly-precise bathroom scale.
5. Record your fitness progress
Once you’ve taken your measurements, record them in a notebook or journal. Separate your signs of progress by weeks then total all your weight loss in a month.
This goes the same with your vital measurements. If there are lost and gained inches on the body areas you worked out on, record them as well. A good instance of this is the cut of your muscles and the proportioning of your hips. Did the fat on your biceps reduce from 14 to 12.6in.? Or did your hip grow from 33 to 36in.?
6. Rate your progress
With all your measurements taken and recorded, review and rate your progress from the start of your audition preparation. Consider your diet and exercise as well. Ask yourself these questions:
- Did you follow your diet and exercise plan thoroughly?
- Do you have a “healthy and fit” image for the audition?
- Have you gained self-confidence for the auditions?
- Have you mastered your dancing skill?
- How effective are your efforts?
7. Celebrate every small win
Don’t always look ahead and focus on what happens next. Take a step back and congratulate yourself on every audition prep checkbox you successfully mark. Buying yourself a new dress or shoe will do. This is one good way to track your progress towards your pro cheer goals. You’ll also avoid burnouts and discouragements by taking it easy and appreciating your small hard work.
8. Seek accountability for your audition goals
Tracking your pro cheer progress yourself is good but it also is better to have an extra head for help. Share your goals with a friend or a partner. Having another person asking you for your progress inspires you to complete all your daily and weekly tasks.
