Audition Prep Motivation: How to Keep a Positive Attitude During Hard Times!
One of the very things that you need to do in order to achieve your pro cheer audition goals is to maintain a positive attitude. Because here's why: Positivity enhances the quality of your audition practice. Whether you're doing a practice Q&A by yourself or attending a dance class, a positive attitude does many things:
- A positive attitude gives you more energy to accomplish whatever you need to accomplish during the day!
- It enables you to appreciate every progress you're making, no matter how little.
- It allows you to embrace feedback and consider the feedback valuable.
Yet, I know that a lot of aspiring pro cheerleaders struggle with staying positive. Auditions may be near or far, but it doesn't change the fact that you could face challenges during the preparation period.
Someone said something hurtful about your goal to become a pro cheerleader. You constantly miss your workouts because a family member got sick. Think of other situations that cause you stress.
In today's article, I want to share five ways on how you can maintain a good attitude in difficult, stressful situations. I believe you can make the team soon... Don't give up! Keep reading.
Aspiring Pro Cheerleader, Here's How to Keep a Positive Attitude During Hard Times
1. Speak more kindly to yourself.
When you're already feeling down, the last thing you need are more discouraging words from yourself. You should be your greatest encourager. Your words have power. Remind yourself that you've done your best and that you're more than enough. Positive self talk brings out the good in the bad.

2. Begin your day strong.
Did you know that no matter what happened yesterday, you can begin the next day with the right mindset? One tactic that's really powerful is gratitude. Be thankful that you woke up and for the opportunity to do at least one thing that will take you closer to your pro cheer audition goals.
3. Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
You could have a simple problem such as missing a gym workout. But instead of telling yourself that tomorrow is another day, you've created drama. Now, you're thinking of how inconsistent you are and how you can fail during the auditions. Commit to stop adding drama to situations. In your mind, say STOP! Resist the urge to think negatively.
4. Focus on solutions.
The next time you face a challenge in your pro cheer audition prep journey, ask yourself, "What can I do to move forward at this very moment?" The more you sit around and do nothing, the worse you'll feel. Your solution doesn't even have to be huge, it can be something small and doable.
5. Remember that things don't have to be perfect always.
The relentless pursuit of perfection keeps an aspiring pro cheerleader from feeling positive. Stop spending your audition prep chasing for perfection because it's impossible. We all make mistakes, our bodies feel tired, and sometimes we fail to hit our mini goals. Stay not just ambitious and passionate, but also accepting of things when they don't turn out as we expect them to.
