Beauty Essentials Every Aspiring and Current Pro Cheerleader Should Have in Her Bag
Whether you’re auditioning for a pro cheerleader’s profession or about to dance in an arena, you should always have the right tools to remedy any contingency. A common emergency that we experience in public is our beauty getting messed up.
Sometimes it’s because of the weather. Other times it’s due to our biology. So empty your everyday bag and put in the beauty essentials you’ll find on this list.
1. Deodorant
Hygiene and beauty go hand in hand. You live an active lifestyle and you will sweat most of the time. Body odor-causing bacteria like to live in armpits because they’re dark, moist, and warm. Even if you applied a deodorant before putting on your OOTD, that deodorant can wear off.
Carrying a deodorant in your bag will help you smell fresh even in the midst of a hectic day.
2. Leave-in hair conditioner
Sunlight and wind can ruin your hair health by causing it to dry up. Leaving your hair dry for too long can cause irreparable damages. Leave-in conditioners don’t need to be rinsed out. You can use them to help your hair stay moisturized especially for daytime arena performances and open-space auditions.
3. Moisturizers
Another part of your body that’s in danger of being too dry due to hot weather is your face. It’s possible that your makeup would become flaky after being exposed to intense heat. That’s why you must always carry a facial moisturizer in your bag. Better yet, keep your skin hydrated at all times.
You can apply a moisturizer over your makeup with these tips. If your face is normally oily, carry a water-based moisturizer. It can also work as a hand moisturizer. If your face is too dry and can only produce a little natural oil during hot weather, carry an oil-based moisturizer.
4. Toners
There will be some instances when you’ll take a shower in the locker room after an arena performance. That could leave your face unprotected on the way home because your pores are opened. Applying a toner will help shut your pores and prevent impurities from getting in.
5. BB cream
BB creams are all-around makeups that provide moisturizing, priming, and toning benefits. You can use it as a foundation. The only difference is that BB creams give your face a more natural glow.
6. Body lotion
The last parts of your body that are in danger of drying up due to hot weather are your neck, arm, chest, leg, and thigh skin. Not paying attention to these areas will cause itch, sunburn, inflammation, or rashes. Always have a bottle of body lotion with the right SPF in your bag at all times.
7. Bathing Soap/Shower Gel
Drop to splits are common in pro cheerleading especially with Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The grass can house a lot of bacteria that could creep up on your skin. That’s why bathing soap or shower gels are important. They’ll help sanitize your thigh and legs when you’ll shower in the locker room.
8. Ziplocked face towel
Sweat can ruin your makeup and house bacteria on your face after dancing or working out. Always keep a clean ziplocked towel in your bag to dry your face.
9. Retouch kit
An aspiring and active pro cheerleader must be ready with the right tools like a traditional girl scout. That means having a retouching kit ready in the bag. You’ll never know. A lot of things can happen in the field of pro cheerleading - including your makeup getting messed.
Not being ready to fix your messed makeup can throw you off focus from your daily activities. In auditions and arena performances, you’ll feel anxious while dancing resulting in not being able to give your all.
You can try to ask for help from your fellow auditionees or squadmates to fix your makeup issue. The problem is, they might be as unready as you are. By keeping a bag of beauty essentials with you at most times, you can make sure that you’ll stay beautiful wherever you’ll go, whatever you’ll do, and whatever may happen.
