Confidence-Boosting Beauty Tips for the Tryouts
Getting the right inspiration makes a world of difference in being your very best during the professional cheerleading tryouts. You can be dying to be part of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders or Cincinnati Ben-gals. Whatever squad you see yourself on, one thing holds true: You need to be prepared.
Let’s talk about preparation and focus on the aspect of beauty. Physical appearance is one of the ways you will be judged. There’s no denying the fact that every team chooses only women who look stunning and know how to carry themselves.
Beauty also impacts your performance because when you look good, you feel more enthusiastic to execute those dance moves. Simple tweaks in your appearance make you awesome – awesome enough to win your day.
So, in this article, I’m sharing with you top pieces of beauty advice to give you an extra boost of confidence.
1. Create more volume in your hair.
A fuller look for your hair makes you more noticeable in a great way. The problem is, you have flat hair which looks lifeless. On the auditions, be sure to use volumizing shampoo. I outlined a list of good shampoos to use for this purpose. Volumizing shampoos also help get rid of excess oil. After you blow dry your hair, use a texturizing spray. Texturizing sprays create natural waves if you want them. Hair color is another way to add texture!
2. Wear a white smile.
Your teeth may not be something you stress about on regular days. However, during the pro cheer auditions, the last thing you would want is the judges noticing stained teeth. Smiling is part of your makeup and something that people greatly appreciate. I know it sounds funny to remind you to practice dental hygiene by brushing your teeth, but yes, it’s a simple practice to keep your teeth white. Also, consider professional teeth whitening from the dentist. Stay away from colored beverages.
3. Stand in a posture of confidence.
Isn’t it that a woman naturally enhances her appearance by changing the way she stands? Use body language to your advantage by simply standing tall. Even if you feel nervous and have a low self-esteem, improving your posture may trick your brain into believing and actually feeling that you are indeed confident. As social psychologist Amy Cuddy puts it, “Fake it ‘till you become it.” Let body posture be one of your secret weapons and you’re sure to feel great inside and out.
4. Achieve flawless skin.
Pro cheer tryouts require you to be in a dance attire that bares your skin. Any blemish or other forms of skin imperfection you have becomes obvious. There are two ways to achieve perfect skin: One, adopt a healthy diet and natural skin care practices. Two, fake it with makeup and skin products. When it comes to number two, you’ll want a formula like Murad’s Invisiblur to blur out blemishes, redness, and wrinkles.
5. Play up your eyes.
Just a few weeks ago, I wrote an article on how to accentuate your eyes or make them pop. After all, the eyes are the windows to the soul. Simple ways to light up your eyes and make them look bigger, more alive, is to use false lashes and mascara. Apply the false lashes first then the mascara. If this will be your first time, go for lighter and shorter fringes. Having your eyebrows shaped properly opens up your eyes. Professional shaping is best. Leave your glasses at home during the auditions.
6. If you can afford it, go for high-end makeup products.
I’ll have to say that in general, more expensive makeup products have a better formula, stick for more hours, and feel great on your skin. Wouldn’t these benefits be enough reasons to pursue them? Face makeup is a good investment especially if you’re going to apply it regularly long after the auditions have ended. You can use it to work or school. The biggest advantage of drugstore makeup (if you can’t afford expensive ones) is that you get a lot of color options – which is a great thing for the pro cheer auditions.
Final Thoughts
A lot of factors influence how confident you feel about yourself. Certainly, beauty is one of them. Hopefully, you will start using these confidence-boosting beauty tips to your advantage. You can always get rid of anything that’s less than perfect in your looks just to make your team. Even if it’s temporary through makeup, still, it’s worth your while. Good luck on the auditions and be confident that you can do it.
