Helpful Tips for Waking Up Early to Workout

Waking up really early in the morning to do your audition prep workout may not sound enticing to you. Yes, you badly want to get fitter and build those muscles. But at the same time, you're not a morning workout person.

In my previous articles, I mention that aspiring pro cheerleaders can workout any time of the day. You can do it in the evening if you're too tired to wake up early.

Yet, you may be realizing the benefits of starting your day with a sweat session. One benefit is that you become more active all day long. You'll also consume fewer calories and burn more fat!

If you're planning to do a morning workout but lack motivation to leave your bed, here are some clever tips. (These were the same tips I used way back - and they work!)

Helpful Tips for Waking Up Early to Workout

1. Set two alarms.

When the alarm goes off, you may turn it off quickly and get back to sleep. Why not set multiple alarms instead? You can use your mobile device and a traditional alarm clock. Put one near your bed and the other in the bathroom.

2. Sleep in your workout clothes.

One of the best practices of fitness enthusiasts is that they get dressed for their workout the night before. Wearing your exercise attire in bed is an effective way to commit to fitness. It gives you a sense of accountability.

3. Forget how early it is!

Waking up too early can be the worst thing for some people because they remind themselves of the time of the day. Stop thinking it's 4 or 5 am. The best piece of advice? Don't think about it. Immediately replace that thought with a fitness affirmation like, "I am ready to get in shape!"

4. Listen to a workout playlist while you're getting dressed.

The right music will produce the right results. Still dragging yourself out of bed? Create a playlist of your favorite workout songs. Play them as soon as you wake up. Doing this will increase your feel-good hormones in no time.

Listen to these timeless workout songs.

5. Invite a friend or two to train with you.

Feel lonely? Does external motivation work for you? Make it a team effort. It's easier to wake up early if you know that people are joining you. Invite a colleague or family member. Keep one another accountable.
