Here's What Your Skin is Trying to Tell You
Professional cheerleaders are often in the public eye. Along with dancing skills, awesome personality, and fit body, great skin is also a must. So a skincare regimen is something that you shouldn’t take for granted on a day-to-day basis if you aspire to become a pro cheerleader.
When you’re already in, you’ll be considered a celebrity. That being said, you should always look put-together whenever you’re out as the public might recognize you. There will be photo ops among the fans and media. Make sure you look great through lenses and even greater up-close and personal.
Take care of your skin now....
...not when you’re already a professional cheerleader.
Start as soon as you can, if you haven’t done so yet. Even if you’re just aspiring to become one, it’s important to have this base covered before you audition, so you can ace this part of the screening.
Even without the makeup, which you will be putting on many times as you apply to be one and throughout your cheerleading career, your skin should always look great. Cheerleading is a profession that banks a lot on appearance.
But aside from great skin as a qualification to your cheerleading dreams, it is also a reflection of your inner health and your habits, so all the more that you need to take care of it.
The skin is the largest organ of the body and can absorb foreign bodies that may cause diseases. Whatever shows up in your skin is your body trying to communicate with you that something is amiss.

So what should you watch out for? Here’s a list of common skin issues and what you can do about them:
Puffy eyes and dark circles
Get enough sleep. Sometimes, it’s just as simple as that. Another way is to apply a cold compress. These, typically, shouldn’t be a cause of alarm, but as an aspiring cheerleader, you should take care of this area too.
Breakouts
Cheerleading involves a lot of rigorous rehearsals and stress might be inevitable. When you’re stressed, your body releases hormones like cortisol which is in charge of oil production through your skin glands. Oil makes your skin more prone to acne.
Breakouts may also be caused by going to bed with makeup on. Sometimes, when we’re too tired, we tend to put off removing makeup, washing our face, exfoliating and moisturizing because they sound like a lot of work. But it takes a toll on our skin as dirt and dead skin cells can clog our pores.
Get a good skincare regimen. Going for a facial is a great way to address skin issues and destress as well. Find products that are friendly on your skin type.
If it persists, please seek the help of a dermatologist.
Dry, flaky skin
Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
Drinking lots of water is good for your skin because it can make you look younger by keeping your skin supple and elastic. Don’t skimp on this because this is an all-natural and not to mention a cheap way to keep your skin healthy.
Wrinkles
Eat healthy food, even for snacks.
Age is a factor, but some studies show how high sugar intake and trans fat can breakdown collagen in our skin that can lead to wrinkles, so be mindful of what you’re eating and try to take collagen-rich food to help make your skin free from wrinkles.
Conclusion
Now’s the time to listen to what your skin is trying to tell you. Your skin says a lot about you, so make sure you take care of it with good daily skincare habits.
See the wonders it will do with the way you look. Who knows? It might just impress the panel on your next audition!
