How to Shift to a Healthy Lifestyle
People who've been unfit their entire lives decide to shift to a healthy lifestyle because of personal reasons. For some women, this can be sparked by a deep desire to become a professional cheerleader. We know that professional cheerleading requires a different level of fitness - the kind of fit that's lean and strong. If this is your dream, and you know that there's a lot of changes you should do, don't lose hope!
To help you make that healthy shift (because getting started isn't easy), I've prepared this post for you.
Connect to your "why."
Why exactly do you want to pursue professional cheerleading? What is the significance of this career? It doesn't matter what your reason is. If this reason matters so much to you, don't lose sight of it. Your "why" will be your driving force especially on days when you don't feel committed to your workouts.

Start SMALL.
Massive changes don't happen overnight! They take time and begin with baby steps. The problem with most people is that they go all in but then they lose hope. We don't have an unlimited supply of willpower, unfortunately - which is why it's easier to focus on healthy habits that don't overwhelm you.
What does starting small look like?
- Taking brisk walks in your workplace during breaks.
- Waking up 30 minutes earlier to do jumping jacks or a 15-minute jog.
- Bringing healthy snacks with you to work instead of grabbing a bag of chips at the vending machine.
- Drinking more water.
Find a community of like-minded individuals.
Being with a group of people with the same health and fitness goals eases the struggle. You're more motivated and inspired. And when you're about to give up, there'll be people who'll cheer you up! Fitness communities are found online and offline. Try to check if there's a group workout class near you. If you're not ready to audition yet but would love to get a great exercise and gain audition insights, sign-up for prep classes. NFL and NBA dance teams offer them months before the auditions.

Give yourself a simple reward.
Incentives are sure motivators. While fitness results are rewards themselves, at the beginning of your journey, you may need a bit more help! Plan simple rewards to keep you going. Examples are a relaxing massage, new workout clothing, or a new dance playlist.
Start a container vegetable garden.
You are more likely to eat healthier if you cook your own meals. And when it comes to meal prep, vegetables aid in weight management. Most veggies are low in fat and fill you up easily. Great options to grow in pots are tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, and several varieties of Asian greens.
