Pro Cheer Beauty: These Skincare Trends Will Be Huge In 2021
When the coronavirus pandemic struck last year, we’ve become even more health-conscious than ever. We started to wear face masks when going out and placed a heavy emphasis on handwashing.
But even in our efforts to stay free from the virus, skincare problems have also surfaced like acne and skin dryness caused by frequent mask-wearing and hand-sanitizing. Here are the skincare trends of 2021 that are essential to keep up with for your pro cheer beauty.
1. Microbiome-focused skincare
Microbiome-focused skincare is about using good bacteria to support skin health. This skincare concept started way back in 2014 and 2015 but hasn’t reached the mainstream until 2020. A huge known benefit of microbiome skincare is that it helps reduce acne, eczema, and dry skin by coating your skin in good bacteria reducing the number of bad microbes.
2. Blue light protection skincare
UV rays are known to cause premature skin aging. Although blue light which comes from device screens have longer wavelengths than UV rays, they can also cause hyperpigmentation, skin aging, cellular shrinkage, and cellular death. The worst part of it, the home quarantine experience caused by the pandemic increased our time using handheld devices.
Simple blue light skincare ideas start from turning on the “Blue Light Filter” option on Android phones and the “Night Mode Feature” on iPhones. Follow this instruction especially while you read articles online using your tablet, laptop, or phone.
Advanced blue light skincare routines involve using blue light protection hyaluronic facial serums and SPF 40 sunscreens.
3. Maskne treatments
Since the pandemic, a lot of people started to develop acne by wearing face masks all the time. This problem is the birth of the term called “maskne”. And because we’ll all be wearing facemasks for the foreseeable future, the use of microbiome products, gentle, and supportive skin barriers will be in demand this year.
New skincare innovations like bacteriophage technology - treatments that kill the specific bacteria-causing acne will also hit the pro cheer beauty market. The purpose of these products are to balance the impact of irritation from mask-wearing and frequent cleansing.
4. Hand care for all types
It’s not just facial beauty that gets affected by the pandemic. Our hands have also been drying by the frequent use of ordinary sanitizers and rubbing alcohol. Not to mention they smell clinical. Vaseline and Dove were some of the companies to take quick notice and created germ-fighting formulas that leave your skin supple and hydrated.
5. Online dermatology
Most things nowadays have gone digital. Pro cheer auditions are virtual, work is remote, school is held on Google, and shopping is done online. Affected by the massive digitalization caused by the pandemic are medical consultations - particularly dermatological.
One company called Skin + Me is a new dermatologist-led website. They also offer you personalized skincare with the expertise of a dermatologist. The skincare routine is then delivered to your door every month.
They also offer check-ups to monitor your progress and help you achieve all your skin health goals. You no longer need to leave your home for a consultation and have more time for pro cheer audition preparation.
6. Refillable skincare products
This year the world has seen how impactful human activities such as energy and industrial pollution are towards the environment. Big brands have already made a move to help. This time, by reducing plastic pollution.
Fenty Skin, Humanrace, Dermalogica, and Neogen have already adopted refillable and 100% recyclable skin-care vessels. This trend will continue in the many years to come.
These skincare trends aside from refillable vessels and moisturizing sanitizers will eventually die down as we double our efforts to defeat the virus and its different strains. Just continue to practice social distancing. Keep on eating nutritious foods and maintain a healthy pro cheer lifestyle.
