How to Care for Your Skin Without Products
Learning how to apply makeup or using skin care products regularly is essential and useful for having and keeping a flawless-looking skin. But you know what’s also important? Practicing natural skincare routines. It’s affordable, easy to do, and your skin feels more comfortable.
Not to mention that with or without makeup, you’ll be just as equally beautiful as those who are following a synthetic skincare routine. Check out these product-free skincare tips!
1. Limit sun exposure
Since sunscreen is a skincare product, that’s out of the option for sun protection. We recommend that you limit your sun exposure from 5 to 15 minutes. That’s enough to get your daily dose of vitamin D. Too much sun exposure is dangerous and causes 90% of skin aging.
2. Sleep with satin or silk pillowcases
While sleeping, you toss and turn at night causing your face to rub against your pillowcase. Cotton pillowcases absorb more moisture and are rougher than silk. Your face will be dry and wrinkled when morning comes. With silk pillowcases, your face will just slide and avoid wrinkles.
3. Drinking a lot of water
When you lack proper hydration, your skin will become dry, flaky, and tight. Not to mention that dry skin has less resilience making the formation of wrinkles easier. As we always mention - drink more than 8 glasses a day or eat water-rich foods. Keep the color of your pee clear or lemonade-ish. The lighter the color is, the more hydrated you are.
4. Figuring out your skin type first
Not every woman has the same skin type. One may have dry skin while the other has an excessively oily type. By figuring out which is yours, you’ll be able to adjust your skincare routines such as choosing to either use an oil-based or water-based moisturizer.
5. Visit your dermatologist regularly
Always examine your skin for changes like moles, rashes, or anything that’s out of the ordinary. Talk to your dermatologist about it for you may have allergies to certain skin products, food, or have bad habits that are detrimental to skin health.
It is also very important to consult a skin health professional so that you can get more tips on natural skincare routines and avoid skin disorders and diseases like acne, melanoma, and cancer.
6. Washing your face regularly with lukewarm water
Sebum or skin oil is our body’s natural moisturizer. During the day sebum mixes with dust or dirt. The oil then hardens, turns into wax, and clogs our pores. This is what causes infections such as acne, pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads.
To soften up the wax for cleaning, you need to warm it up with lukewarm water. Not hot. Then massage your face to remove excess sebum with dirt. Wash your face at least 2 to 3 times a day after waking up and before going to bed. You can also do this midday.
7. Cleaning your makeup brushes
Your makeup brushes may have housed bacteria, dust, sweat, and other whatnots after multiple uses. These brushes will also cause skin problems if the junk in those bristles is smeared all over your face. Make it a habit to wash your makeup tools weekly especially if you’re a regular makeup user.
8. Manage your stress levels
Stress causes the release of the hormone cortisol in our body. Although needed, it only is useful if faced with dangerous situations that require fight or flight decisions. The increased and constant release of cortisol causes our skin to lose its glow by reducing our skin’s ability to retain moisture.
Depending on your skin type, your skin will either be dry or be too oily which results in wrinkles, dark eye circles, or acne. Learn strategies on how to maintain a peaceful mind and avoid stress like yoga or other forms of meditation.
There is beauty in simplicity. That’s what this blog is about. You can be beautiful without the need of using too many skincare products. If you don’t like to follow an intricate and expensive skincare routine, just refer to this list and follow the tips.
