Say NO To These 9 Things For A Healthier Pro Cheer Life

This year has provided humanity with one of the most challenging experiences. On the bright side, it’s almost ending. But there’s one lesson the year 2020 has taught all of us - It’s to take our physical, mental, and spiritual health seriously.

In the world of pro cheerleading, there are a lot of things we must avoid to stay healthy. These things are also to be avoided in the upcoming year. Keep on reading to find out what they are.

1. Too much sugar

Acne, weight gain, and fatigue are what you get from eating too much food with refined sugars and unhealthy carbohydrates. Train your appetite to crave healthy foods like veggies, fruits, and lean red meat. To control your cravings, choose healthier snack alternatives like dried seaweed for chips or nuts for M&Ms.

2. Negativity

Negativity is sometimes caused by other people. Do your best to avoid or not listen to those who are toxic that visibly ruin your day. It’s not selfish to walk away from all the unnecessary drama in life - it’s called self-care. Being in the company of negative people for too long will warp your mind into thinking negatively as well.

3. Perfection

While it may be good to strive for perfection in your diet program to achieve maximum fitness, beating yourself up and abandoning your goals for every failure won’t get you anywhere. If you cannot eat healthy food for 5 days straight, do your best next time to eat healthier and improve from your mistakes such as removing temptations.

But if you really can’t stay off those bags of chips, just give in sometimes until you no longer want to eat junk foods. Avoid being frustrated as much as possible. There’s a reason why cheat days are a fad. Progress is the key.

4. Not getting enough sleep

There are a lot of negative effects caused by the lack of proper sleep. First, your immune system weakens. Second, you grow dark circles under your eyes. Third, you’re easily tired. And lastly, you’re irritable.

Not getting enough sleep ruins your beauty, health, and mental state. Aim to sleep for 7 to 9 hours every night and follow a strict sleeping schedule.

5. Comparing yourself to others

You might say to yourself, “I’m not like this dancer. I’m not like this pro cheerleader. I’ll never be that girl who’s always confident.” Comparing yourself to others changes nothing. Stop wasting your energy on other people’s lives. You’re unique with your own strengths and weaknesses. Focus on developing yourself instead.

6. Partying every night

Too much of everything is bad. Yes, you might feel happier by partying but drinking every night increases your chance of developing serious health conditions such as brain damage, cancer, and liver problems. Your sleep quality is also ruined. It’s healthy to party at least thrice a month and during weekends while drinking moderate amounts of alcohol.

7. A cluttered workspace

Another cause of mental irritability is a cluttered environment. I’m not just talking about your work desk or your study table. I’m talking about your bedroom, kitchen, living room, or any environment that you frequent. Throw away the junk, store what you don’t need at the moment, and leave the things you’ll use all the time at arm’s reach.

8. Too much social media

Social media is a breeding ground for negativity and procrastination. You have fake news, alarming news, strangers trolling and arguing over senseless stuff over the internet, and the software algorithms are doing their best to keep your face glued to the screen.

Long durations of social media exposure causes depression, anxiety, and laziness. Have you seen the Social Dilemma on Netflix? Watch it first and you’ll know what we’re talking about. To limit your social media use, you can set an app usage limit on your Android or iPhone. Set a 1 to 1 and a half-hour timer for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media apps.

9. Gossip

Like comparing yourself to others, gossiping is also unhealthy for you and everyone. It is unhealthy to the gossiper because it encourages a toxic mindset, it’s unhealthy to the one who’s the topic of the gossip because it ruins their self-confidence and self-esteem, and it’s unhealthy to everyone because gossiping ruins relationships.

Practice saying this, “Other people’s lives are none of my business. Period.” Believe me, you do not want to be the topic of gossipers so don’t indulge in their negative behavior. You either speak up or walk out. A happy and positive mind starts within you and your life decisions.

To live a healthy life doesn’t only mean eating healthily. You must learn to mind your own business, clean your surroundings, take everything in moderation, and be content to live a peaceful life. Also, the yuletide holidays are near! Be sure to control your sugar intake as sweets are the main Christmas treats.
