Science-Backed Ways to Fire Up Your Metabolism

Do you ever envy people who can eat as much as they can and still maintain a slim figure? When you’re trying to achieve a healthy weight loss for a dance audition, you feel more pressure. If you’re looking to give your body a boost, here’s a guide that teaches you proven strategies to speed up your metabolism and put your body in a fat burning mode.

1. Start your day with a workout.

Let us get this clear: Whether you workout in the morning or evening, you still get a boost in metabolism. Physical activity regardless of the time of the day burns fat! But the reason why I prefer a morning workout (before the day starts) is that it ensures you get it done and you’re less likely to skip it. Also, morning workouts motivate you to be disciplined in your food choices throughout the day.

2. Get 7-9 hours of sleep every night.

Short on sleep? Your constant lack of sleep may be the culprit behind your struggle in keeping that weight off. Even if you lack just one hour of sleep, significant hormonal changes take place. Your food cravings increase and your energy expenditure is reduced. Be sure to get enough sleep, at least seven hours each night.

3. Drink plenty of water.

Studies show that drinking lots of H20 boosts your metabolic rate by 30%. Water also helps you lose weight in other ways: it decreases oxidative stress during an intense workout. The effect is that you feel less fatigued and more able to give your best.

4. Consume whole grains in your diet.

Quinoa, barley, corn, and whole rye. These whole grains contain fewer calories and control your blood sugar levels. A new research demonstrated that individuals who consumed a diet that’s rich in whole grains had an increase in resting metabolic rate. Cook and eat whole grains plain or include them in your salads.

5. Stand up more often.

If you have a desk job or work from home, don’t just stick to your workout schedule. In one hour, make sure to stand for at least one minute and move around your house. Standing allows you to utilize the muscles responsible for keeping your body upright. To make sure that you get to stand up several times a day, set an alarm that goes off once every hour.

6. Reduce your stress levels.

Stress doesn’t only affect how you feel, but it also sabotages your weight loss efforts. Whether it’s work, school, or pro-cheer-related, being under stress releases cortisol, a hormone that raises your blood sugar levels and promotes fat storage. Deal with stress the right way. Helpful tips include journaling, learning to say NO, and have someone to talk to.

These are the small things you can do starting now to keep your weight off and assist your body in burning more fat. For more pro cheer fitness tips, we recommend the following articles:
