Simple Exercises That Will Help You Build Self-Confidence
Self-confidence is very important for pro cheer auditions. Judges will favor candidates who can speak without stuttering and looking down during the interview. Your self-confidence also determines your dance performance. The gutsier you are, the better you dance while maintaining that awesome smile. All of these are plus points for the judging criteria. But for some, this can be a hard thing to achieve as not everyone's born confident. Let’s get down to easy and everyday activities you can do to help boost your confidence.
1. Take care of your body
Eat healthily and stay fit. These simple acts aren’t only for keeping your body toned but the feeling of a healthy body makes you much lighter, stronger, and energetic. You’ll also feel happier and confident daily by the endorphin release from your workouts.
Pamper your skin with the appropriate care products as well. When you see yourself in the mirror and take notice of your beauty, wouldn’t that make you more confident?
2. Dress like a pro cheerleader
As you build progress for your audition preparation, dress the part of a cheerleader from time to time. Wear athletic clothing like yoga pants, micro skirts, and crop tops. Look at yourself and see how the part fits you well. That’ll inspire and help you to not only adopt the pro cheer fashion but also the confident mindset as well.

3. List down your audition preparation progress
It’s easier to find flaws within us but harder to point out the positive ones when we have a negative life outlook. This time, recall the good things about you like the dance skills you possess and the audition preparation achievements you’re proud of. List them down. The more achievements you notice, the better your self-esteem becomes.
4. Pose in front of a mirror
Posing can help in liberating you from fear during times of shyness. Face the mirror, smile, stand up straight, puff your chest out, and hold your head up high. You can also do some sexy poses to kill your anxieties. Once you get used to this simple exercise, you can use it anytime to battle stage fright like the auditions.
5. YOLO
You only live once as they say. Don’t spend your life doubting yourself and being shy. Take risks and make life worth living. Let go of your fear. Live without regrets - that’s one way to be happy. When you allow nothing to hold you back, you become happier and are bound to be more confident in achieving your pro cheer audition goal.
6. Be a healthy narcissist
Being a narcissist doesn’t necessarily require one to be so grandiose. If you hate bragging, you can be quiet but confident. Healthy narcissism teaches us to accept that nobody is perfect and we shouldn’t expect or intend to be one. This way we can avoid discouragements and anxieties of failure, hence, better assertion.
7. Revert to a younger mindset
Children think that everything can be made possible. This can be useful for you. If a task asks you to do something, answer with, “Why not?”. There’s nothing wrong in trying and what’s the worst that could happen? So what if you don’t make your dream squad? It’s not the end of the world. You can still audition for other teams. What matters is you did your best and you have the experience needed for the next journey.

8. Enjoy the present audition preparation moment
Don’t think about the uncertain future and don’t think about past mistakes. That kind of mindset can induce anxieties and kill one’s self-confidence. Instead, think about the present and make the best of it. Enjoying what’s happening right now always makes us feel better about ourselves and our surroundings.
Building self-confidence starts within. Most of the time the force that holds you back is yourself. To build belief in yourself, live life enjoying the present, take risks, and do what you should to make the team.
