Simple Ways to Get Naturally Whiter Teeth (Because Your Smile Matters)

It’s impossible to ace the professional cheerleader auditions without wearing a smile. Smiling is a requirement - whether you introduce yourself to the judges, perform the routine, and present yourself during the interview. And while you give out a genuine smile, it’s important to have whiter teeth.

White teeth positively impact your appearance. It also shows that you maintain your health. Most of all, white teeth help increase your confidence.

If you want to achieve whiter teeth without spending on teeth whitening, here are some five natural, free tips. Check out the methods below.

Natural Teeth Whitening Tips

1. Brush with baking soda

Baking soda as a teeth whitener is simple, convenient, and effective. As a mild abrasive, it eliminates stains found on the surface of your teeth. Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of lemon in a container. Apply the mixture to your teeth using a toothbrush. Take note that you should use baking soda occasionally. Using it regularly may damage your teeth enamel.

2. Stay away from or limit consumption of certain foods and drinks

Most of the time, we consume kinds of stuff that stain our teeth - and we’re completely unaware of it. These foods and drinks contain chromogens that are responsible for their colors. Typical foods and drinks that stain your teeth include the following:

  • Cola
  • Tea and coffee
  • Fruit juices
  • Tomato sauces
  • Curry
  • Berries

Experts recommend drinking from a straw to keep liquids from actually touching your teeth.

3. Use apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has many important uses, and one of them is teeth whitening. It’s the pH of apple cider vinegar that helps you achieve a brighter smile. Its natural acid helps break down stubborn plaque.

But like using sodium bicarbonate or baking soda, you should limit the use of apple cider vinegar to prevent teeth damage. To apply it, just dip your finger into a container with apple cider vinegar and rub it to your teeth. Leave it in place for 2 minutes then rinse.

4. Eat foods that whiten teeth

There are also foods that clean your teeth instantly and whiten them over time. The best part is that these foods actually benefit your health. So you’re hitting two birds with one stone: Achieve whiter teeth and stay in the best health possible.

Here are the foods you should try:

  • Carrots
  • Yogurt and milk
  • Oranges and pineapples
  • Apples
  • Broccoli
  • Pears

5. Brush immediately after eating

The simplest and commonly overlooked tactic for whiter teeth is brushing. Whether you are in school or at work, be sure to brush your teeth after a meal. I would recommend that you carry a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste in a pouch. This method can be difficult if you can’t access a ladies room but try your best to do it - because it works.
