There’s no excuse for not exercising when you’re preparing for pro cheer auditions. Exercising helps you achieve a nice figure, increase your energy levels, and get stronger! You already know that.
But unfortunately, there will be times when working out feels more like a chore. Instead of feeling empowered, you feel bored. If you’re experiencing this right now, it means that you’ve hit a wall. What used to work for and excite you may no longer be the workout that takes you to the next level.
Here are 8 ways to bust out of your workout rut!
1. Take it back to the basics.
Sometimes, the best way to refresh your workouts is to return to the basics. Think of it as an opportunity to master proper exercise form and just enjoy easier movements! At the same time, listen to your favorite music for extra fun.
2. Explore different workouts.
You don’t have to stick with your treadmill. Exercise should be an exciting activity! Why not spend a day researching workouts that you haven’t tried yet? Exercise is like dating - you have to keep trying new things to see what works for you.
3. Embrace the great outdoors.
Outdoor workouts let you breathe in the fresh air which gives you mental clarity! Not to mention, it’s free. Use outdoor elements to make your workout challenging - like the stairs, bench, and seawater. If you have to, bring a yoga mat!
4. Swap a workout with a friend.
Working out with a friend is awesome. But have swapped workouts? Pick a friend who’s into fitness and challenge yourselves by trying each other’s workout routine. If your friend can do it, so can you! Don’t forget to share experiences.
5. Create a power playlist.
There are many great songs you can put together for your workout. Try Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Avicii, and JAY Z! No matter what songs you choose, here’s a helpful tip: Pick songs that suit your workout style for the day. Songs for your HIIT workouts will be different from songs for your yoga workouts.
6. Sign-up for an event.
Join running and endurance events with your girlfriends or co-workers. Not only will you be able to meet new people, but you also get to understand your body better! If the event is for a cause, then you know that you’ve played a role in creating positive change in the community.
7. Reduce your gym time.
People can fall off their fitness goals after reaching a point where they feel exhausted. If you’re spending too much time in the gym, you may want to cut that time in half. Use that time to listen to a motivational podcast, do gentle stretching, and hydrate.
8. Get a fitness tracker.
Do you know if you’re getting enough steps each day? Wearable fitness trackers do many things, from keeping track of your steps to counting the calories you’ve burned with each workout. Today’s trackers even send you messages that give you an ego boost.
These simple strategies can make a big difference in your fitness routine. Exercising becomes most effective if you enjoy doing it while challenging yourself every now and then.
