Why It's Okay to Fail: 7 Important Reasons

Are you thinking about the repercussions of failing to complete a goal in your audition prep? Or are you scared at the thought of not making your dream squad? I’ll be frank with you, failure in audition preparation will ruin your chance of getting accepted. You also won’t feel good if you get rejected.

I know it’s quite scary and even frustrating to have your preparation efforts undervalued. But there are also things to learn from experiencing setbacks. Here are the reasons why.

1. Everyone fails

Yes. People have and will fail at some point in their lives. Take some of the aspiring pro cheerleaders you meet at the auditions. Not every one of them will make the squad. Not every squad member in your dream team made the team on the first try.

Failure is normal. How you react to it is what truly matters. Are you going to beat yourself up or will you strive to be better?

2. Failure makes you reach new understandings about yourself

When chasing our goals in life, we tend to focus on the finish line instead of the journey to achieving success. What we don’t realize is along the way we learn more things about ourselves like what your attitude is towards fitness and how strong is your commitment.

3. You learn more life and fitness-related lessons than being successful all the time

Winning all the time is boring. Yes, you do feel happy about finding your winning formula and making the team but your knowledge is still limited. You’ll never learn the different dieting techniques and different dancing styles.

Whereas by experiencing failure in your audition, you’ll always learn new things and say to yourself, “Really? I never knew that!” Wouldn’t that be more fun?

4. Failure teaches you to own up to your actions

Aside from learning different dancing styles, workout programs, and dietary plans, failure teaches you to take responsibility for your actions. This means you stop blaming outside sources for your plight. Missed a workout session? That’s clearly your doing.

You’ll then focus on exerting more audition preparation effort and be more strict in following your fitness program. This is a very important lesson to learn because blaming other people and other things for your own failure is a cancerous and toxic way to live.

5. You learn how to innovate and be tenacious

Let’s go back to those current pro cheerleaders in your dream team. Most of them who got rejected at some point understood that failure was just normal. But after failing, they became stronger, did better, and found other audition preparation techniques until they finally made the squad.

6. You’ll earn freedom from fear

Fear can be paralyzing. The thought of getting rejected at the auditions haunts most of the first-time auditionees. And too much of being afraid is detrimental to audition preparations, life goals, and pro cheer goals.

But once you get rejected, you’ll stop giving a hoot about failing and focus on doing even better instead. Not only will you be fearless in auditions, but you’ll also be gutsier in life outside the pro cheer career.

Examples of courage learned from failing is being more confident at interviews, speaking out, and standing up to your ideals.

7. Success tastes even sweeter after setbacks

Here’s the best part about experiencing multiple failures: The satisfaction is too good to savor when you’ve finally done it. It isn’t just that, you’ll take care of your success because you know the value of your hard work to achieve it.

Life in the squad is hard. Some of the first time audition winners will be complacent and take it for granted. But you won’t because you’re too careful and smart for it.

While it’s good to take failures as a positive experience, you shouldn’t wait for failure to happen so you can learn valuable lessons. Take this blog to heart and give it your all focusing on your audition preparation. When you do get rejected at the auditions - something I pray that won’t happen, don’t fret and just do better preparations for the next one.
