5 Ways to Measure Your Fitness Progress

Do you track the results of your workouts and healthy eating habits? Because if not, you need to start doing it right now. Measuring your progress in fitness is essential because it helps you know whether you're on the right track. You will also be able to identify routines that should be changed or improved. Perhaps the biggest reason to track fitness as an aspiring pro cheerleader is that it gives you a boost in motivation.

Here are the best ways to keep track of your progress:

1. Journaling

Keeping a journal of your fitness journey is a powerful practice. In your journal, you need to write down your daily workout plan and how you feel each day before and after your workout. If you want to go a little further, track what you eat. I know this sounds like a lot, but trust me, record keeping allows you to obtain useful information whenever you need it.

2. Circumference measurements

You may not be losing weight based on the scale, but you feel lighter and have dropped a dress size. If this is the case, it's likely that you've lost fat and gained more muscle. Measure areas of your body where fat usually accumulate. These include your hips, waist, thighs, and arms.

3. Take progress photos

This one's a favorite of many. It entails taking a photo of yourself at the start of your fitness journey and another photo a few weeks or months after consistent training. To ensure that the comparison is accurate, wear the same clothing and take the photo at the same hour of the day. You'll be amazed at how much your body has changed because of your food and training.

4. What you're able to do

Another powerful way to measure your fitness is to consider the things you can do during your workouts. Are you able to do a full push-up now compared to when you first started? What about the number of reps or duration of your workouts? Can you do more reps and last longer?

5. People notice the change in your body

When you've lost a significant amount of weight or your physique has improved, people notice. You don't even have to ask - someone will randomly comment. However, keep in mind that you shouldn't depend on other people for your self-worth!
