7 Things to Expect When Pro Cheer Team Auditions Are Open

You might need to wait a few more weeks as NFL and NBA dance teams haven’t announced their audition dates yet. Usually, schedules will be open to the public some time during the last week of February or the first week of March.
In the meantime, let’s discuss some things that might come up before, during, or after you’ve submitted your audition application online. They are extremely important because some of them will be mandated by the dance team management and failure to comply might make you lose your chance of landing a spot in your dream squad.
1. A special choreography to practice and perform
Once your audition application is accepted, expect to receive an email containing a video of a choreography that you will perform at the preliminary auditions. You’ll need to practice it daily as it will be your first test. The preliminary rounds might be done online, through video submission, or in person.
2. Noon or early evening call time
The semifinal and final rounds will likely be done in person. And the call time for each might be ten in the morning or six in the evening. You can also expect the audition rounds to conclude at two in the afternoon or ten in the evening.
3. Audition venues
Expect the semifinal and final audition rounds to be held in the home stadium of your dream pro cheer squad’s sports team. By now, you should be familiar with how to get there from your home and the entrance to the facility.
4. Consecutive audition openings
When one pro cheer team announces that they’re open for auditions, other teams would follow suit. You might be tempted to audition for another squad as a second option. Just make sure that both of the teams you’re auditioning have their base close to each other and their round schedules won’t be in conflict.
5. One month to two weeks preparation window
Usually, NFL and NBA pro cheer teams give auditionees a month or less to prepare. This can subject you to a lot of pressure. Which is why we always release blog posts every weekday to help you prepare for the auditions in advance.
6. Specified audition attire

The audition attire varies with each squad. Some may require black leggings with a sports tank top while others would require a sports bra with boyshorts. However, don’t buy these outfits just yet. Wait for official announcements.
7. Submission of identification documents
On the application submission page of your dream team’s website, they will ask you to submit a recent portrait for identification. You can upload a scanned or digital version of the portrait. Expect that they will ask for other documents as they will need to prove you’re of legal age.
Remember that these things are subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions or adjustments of squad management protocols. The best place to get updates of your dream team’s audition announcements is through their social media pages and official website.
