Compelling Ways Exercise Makes You a Better Pro Cheer Candidate

If you’re still deciding whether to audition next season or have already started preparing for it, you already know that exercise is something that you need to incorporate into your daily schedule. Exercising helps you lose that extra weight that keeps you off the team.

But let’s take a moment to appreciate other benefits of exercise on you as a candidate. Understanding how exercise makes you better overall strengthens your commitment to it. You’ll have more reasons to get off the couch, wake up at 5:00 AM, and remain consistent. 💪

Your focus improves.

Think of your mind as muscle. When you workout, let’s say you do a 30-minute full-body strength training workout, you pay attention to your form and execution. If not, you get injured. This consistent practice gradually increases your attention span. You need focus if you want to be able to maximize the time you spend on pro cheer prep and achieve your goals in less time.

Your energy levels soar.

Professional cheerleaders bring so much in the field in that they are capable of making fans feel their high energy. Their sweet smiles and big, powerful moves mesmerize the crowd and inspire some women to become pro cheerleaders as well. Their secret? Energy. It’s everything. It would be impossible to develop the energy of a professional cheerleader without a solid exercise regimen. Exercise is the ultimate cure for fatigue -- not more coffee!

You get a creativity boost.

Yes, exercising is good for your brain. Wendy Suzuki, a neuroscientist and author of Healthy Brain, Happy Life: A Personal Program to Activate Your Brain and Do Everything Better, says that exercise helps you be more creative. To succeed in your endeavors, sometimes you need to come up with unique solutions and ideas when things don’t go as planned. As an aspiring pro cheerleader, you will encounter situations where thinking outside the box becomes necessary.

Your self-awareness improves.

When you do a challenging workout for the very first time, you would feel some muscles getting sore -- muscles you never paid much attention to before. When you exercise, you make sure to breathe deeply and take breaks in between to conserve energy. All these things make you appreciate yourself, your body, better. This improved self-awareness makes you pay more attention to your needs as a future pro cheerleader.

Final Thoughts

So now that you know how wonderful it is to become active physically, stop making excuses. Do the work. I hope you achieve everything you want in pro cheerleading through regular exercise! I hope you become more focused, energetic, creative, and self-aware. 💖
