Does Your Hair Feel Dry To Touch? Try These Dry Hair Home Remedies

Hair is a collection of dead cells and a tough protein called keratin. For the most part, it can incur irreparable damages over time, especially on areas of the strands that are out of the hair bulb.

Dry hair can be a problem for pro cheerleading because it doesn’t only make you look disheveled, but it can also ruin the aesthetic of your entire squad’s performance especially with dance routines involving hair tosses.

However, that doesn’t mean dryness caused by changes in the weather can’t be fixed. There are a lot of things you can do at home to remedy your locks and prevent them from further frizziness, breakage, and brittleness.

These involve the use of natural ingredients and lifestyle choices that are affordable and easy to follow. Want to know what they are? Take out your pen, read on, and write everything down.

Coconut milk scalp massage

Use concentrated coconut milk as a hair mask. Before taking a bath, massage the concentrated milk on your scalp for two minutes and apply the rest thoroughly throughout your hair. Leave the mask on for twenty minutes before rinsing it off with water.

We recommend using a shower cap so that you can also exfoliate your body, relax in the bathtub, or read something in the meantime. Coconut milk is rich in fatty acids and electrolytes that both moisturize your hair and lock in moisture.

You can use this tip as part of your daily or weekly hair care routine.

Take vitamin supplements

The best way to keep your hair moisturized is to start right at the roots. Vitamin A, C, and H supplements ensure that your hair grows durable. This would take a very long time for everyday activities to wear off the composition of the outer layer of your strands.

Add iron to your diet so that your body can produce healthy amounts of hemoglobin in your blood. The hemoglobin will then help distribute oxygen and nutrients from your blood to your scalp for strong hair growth.

Once the healthy section of your hair grows, never go back to having dry hair by knowing the bad hair habits and products you should avoid. Eat foods that are conducive to good hair growth as well.

Don’t wash your hair every day

Our scalp produces sebum - a natural oil that makes our hair shiny and easy to maintain. Too much of it can cause greasiness, dandruff, and acne. But too little of it caused by the everyday use of chemically packed shampoos also makes our hair dry and brittle.

Remember what we mentioned about our skin’s microbiomes? Without these good bacteria, our immune system will be compromised which could lead to infections, scalp, and hair problems such as dry hair and dandruff. Showering every other day is just fine if you’re not sweaty.

It’s also important to note that all scalps are different. Some people have dry ones while others are oily. If your scalp is dry, you should invest in moisturizing shampoos, conditioners, or bathe without using any products.

If your scalp is oily and you can’t skip washing your hair every day, use a gentle shampoo formula. Overall, keeping a healthy bacteria balance on your scalp provides plenty of benefits to your hair. All you have to do is be gentle on your body parts by not relying too much on chemicals.

Aside from the use of chemicals, environmental factors and styling such as changes in temperatures or blow dryers can also lead to the dryness of your hair. We recommend wearing a hat to shade your locks during a hot day, a beanie to keep your strands warm during winter, and avoiding the use of styling tools when not necessary.

If there are sections of your hair that are beyond any means of repair, visit your regular salon and say goodbye to those hopeless strands.
