Feeling Stuck? Here's How to Push Your Audition Prep Efforts to the Next Level

With all your audition goals and fitness plans to achieve, do you sometimes feel that you're not making that much progress? Is the thought of you not doing enough messing with you?

Here's what you need to know: What you're going through is completely normal - because it means that you're eager to do better. Here are some ways to keep moving forward and boost your efforts to crush that audition.

1. Listen and be honest to yourself

The first stage of improvement is to listen to yourself. What are you complaining about? What results do you expect that you have not yet achieved? When you become completely honest with yourself, it means that you can..

2. Work on your setbacks

What happens when you find out that you’re not perfecting your technique or still lack confidence? That’s right - you take the realization as a lesson and start working on it. When you do, you have to...

3. Review your goals

This time, ask yourself: "What is it that I'm probably doing wrong?" Review your workout and diet. You could probably revise your plan and try something new, such as increasing your number of reps or sets. You could also reduce your carbohydrates and increase your protein. Stop buying junk food from the mart and go for whole foods instead.

4. Let go of the past, do what you can now, and face the future

After doing #3, you might find yourself dwelling on the past. Move on from it sister. Don’t think about what you should have done because that opportunity has passed. Focus on the present and plan for the future. Dwelling on the past is a huge time-waster.

5. Face pain and the unknown without fear

In a dance prep clinic, some exercises are needed to stretch your limbs to achieve so you can become more flexible. It will be painful and you will feel a bit scared. Will you chicken out? No. The pain of sacrifice and pushing yourself beyond your limits are temporary and your body will recover and adapt. Strong women are willing and able to do anything even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone!

6. Get out of your zone by accepting critics

One way to get out of your comfort zone is to accept criticisms. If your aspiring squad-mate or coach says you’re not doing enough to get what it takes to be in the squad, open your mind to the possibility that what they're saying is true. Take the feedback and make something positive out of it by doing better.

7. Get greedy with your success

Want success? Never settle with your current efforts. As soon as you start to feel comfortable and bored, push yourself to the next level by tackling challenges. For example, increasing your workout difficulty or quitting sugar.

8. Raise your bar high

Common goals lead to mediocre achievements; ambitious goals are difficult to achieve yet failing at them still take you to greater heights. As the saying goes, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

9. Stop making excuses and take action

Failure to be consistent can hinder your progress. If you want to see your plan really work, commit to sticking with it. If the plan says you only have one cheat meal in a week, have one cheat meal. I know it takes a lot of discipline at the beginning... But here's the trick: Remember that it's all in your mind. Redirect your thoughts to a subject that's pleasant!

10. Focus on focusing

Distractions come from anyone, anywhere, or anything. Overcome your distractions while working out by putting your phone on silent or airplane mode. Thinking negative thoughts? Deep breathly and imagine that you're exhaling negativity while inhaling positivity.
