Get Your Skin Ready for Spring with These Skin Care Tips
Spring is a season of renewal and rejuvenation, and it's the perfect time to update your pro cheer skincare routine. As the weather starts to warm up, your skin may need different care than it did during the colder months.
While spring skin care varies depending on your current skin concern and complexion, you can enjoy glowing and healthier skin with the tips below. Use them in preparation for a dance audition, along with some makeup hacks!
1. Wear sunscreen and use an umbrella for skin protection
As the weather gets warmer and the sun shines brighter, it's important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. You should wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even if it's cloudy outside. If you're out for longer periods, reapply it every two hours. Furthermore, wear a hat or use an umbrella to provide additional protection.
2. Hydrate with water and a moisturizer
Spring can be a dry season, so it's important to hydrate your skin from both the inside and outside. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated, and use a moisturizer to lock in moisture. Look for a moisturizer that is lightweight and absorbs quickly, so it doesn't feel heavy on your skin. You can also use a facial mist to refresh and hydrate your skin throughout the day.

3. Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells
Exfoliating is an essential step in any skincare routine, and it's especially important during the spring season. As your skin starts to shed its winter coat, exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother, brighter skin. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week, depending on your skin type. Check out these exfoliators if you have sensitive skin.
Remember to avoid over-exfoliating, as this can cause irritation and dryness.
4. Consider your skin type
In the spring, your skin may produce more oil due to the warmer weather. If you have oily or combination skin, consider switching to a gel or foam cleanser that can help remove excess oil and impurities. If you have dry or sensitive skin, use a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin of its natural oils.
Tip: Avoid using hot water, as this can dry out your skin and lead to irritation.
5. Don't forget antioxidants
Antioxidants are powerful ingredients that can help protect your skin from free radicals, which can cause damage and premature aging. Look for skincare products that contain antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and green tea extract. You can also incorporate antioxidant-rich foods into your diet, such as berries, dark chocolate, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens.
6. Use an eye cream with caffeine or green tea extract
Your eyes are one of the most delicate areas on your face, and they require special care. As the weather gets warmer, you may experience puffiness or dark circles under your eyes. To combat this, use an eye cream that contains caffeine or green tea extract, which can help reduce puffiness and brighten your skin.
You can also use a cold compress, such as a chilled tea bag, to help soothe and refresh your eyes!
7. Use a lip balm with nourishing ingredients
During the spring season, your lips may be exposed to more wind and sun, which can lead to dryness and chapping. To keep your lips hydrated, use a lip balm with SPF protection. Look for a lip balm that contains ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, or beeswax, which can help nourish and protect your lips.
