10 Beauty Tips for Healthy and Pink Lips
Our lips are a very important part of our body. We use them every day for eating food, communicating, and expressing our emotions. Yet, lip care isn’t something that we pay much attention to every day. I say this because only a few of us carry lip balms in our bags, drink more than 8 glasses of water daily, and that a lot of people smoke.
Such neglect would result in chapped, cracked, darkened, and bleeding lips. As a woman living the pro cheer life, lip care is essential. This is because you’re expected to smile and stay pretty at most times. Smiling with damaged lips is painful and part of pro cheer beauty is keeping them pink and smooth. Here are 10 effective tips you should follow to maintain beautiful and luscious lips.
1. Stop smoking
If you’ve never smoked a single cigarette stick in your entire life then good for you. However, if you’re a chain smoker or occasionally lights a stick then you should get over this problem. Smoking accelerates skin aging, making your lips more wrinkly and darker.
2. Use a humidifier in your room
While sleeping, inhaling dry cold air will dry your lips. By using a humidifier in your bedroom, you keep the air moisturized which prevents chapping, splitting, and cold sores as you sleep.
3. Carry a lip balm with you at all times
When outside your home, the weather can be hot and arid which also dries your lips. You can prevent this from happening by using a lip balm so carry one in your bag as you go out.
4. Don’t bite, touch, lick, or pick off your lip
Your hands can carry germs from touching various surfaces that could cause lip infections. Do your best not to touch them. Don’t lick your lips as well. Saliva may provide temporary and satisfying hydration, but once it evaporates, your lips are left even drier than before.
If you have a habit of picking and biting your lip skin off, get some advice to eliminate that behavior.
5. Get collagen injections
Lip problems such as wrinkles may come with old age. Sometimes, cosmetics can no longer help. Collagen injections will quickly fix this but they’re expensive.
6. Take vitamins and foods for collagen production
Your lips, hair, nails, and skin need vitamin B-2 or riboflavin and vitamin C to stay healthy. Try to find these vitamins in drugstores and include them in your daily supplements to promote collagen production.
You can also eat food rich in riboflavin and ascorbic acid. They are abundant in eggs, beans, dairy products, citrus fruits, lean meat, nuts, and leafy green vegetables.
7. Drink a lot of water
As mentioned before, lips require a lot of hydration to stay healthy and pink. That’s why you should drink more than 8 glasses every day.
8. Remove your makeup before going to bed
Like your skin, your lips also need to breathe by being clear of cosmetics. So remove your lipstick, lip tint, lip matte, and other likes before calling it a day.
9. Apply heavy hydrating lip cream before sleeping
A hydrating lip cream is a cosmetic product too but it’s one of the exceptions you can keep on as you sleep. You can also use petroleum jelly as a hydrating lip cream alternative.
10. Massage your lips with nourishing oils
By massaging your lips with nourishing oils 5 minutes daily, you improve blood circulation in that area. This makes sure your lips get all the nourishment it needs to stay healthy and pink.
There are three major enemies when it comes to keeping your lips beautiful and healthy. They’re smoking, lip skin tampering, and dry air. Get professional help to quit smoking forever. The same goes if you have a habit of picking and biting your lip skin off. For arid weather and dry bedroom air, preventing your lips from chapping is easy and affordable. All you need to do is keep a stick of lip balm with you at all times and sleep with moisturized air.
