Makeup Tips to Make Your Foundation Look Natural
Applying foundation is something that you need to master months before the professional cheer auditions. You already know that foundation gives you a flawless-looking skin and balances oil and dryness. That way, you look perfect on the big day! However, you’re also aware that foundation can result in cakiness. As a result, your makeup appears to be unnatural! To achieve the best results, here are some tips for you.
Exfoliate your skin.
Never miss the step of exfoliating your skin. It’s one way to prep your skin so that foundation glides smoothly and distributes evenly on the skin. If you don’t exfoliate, your makeup sits atop dead skin cells. This creates a bumpy skin texture. Apply a natural exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. You can also try natural exfoliators like oatmeal, sea salt, coffee, and apple cider vinegar.
Choose a liquid foundation.
Liquid foundation offers superior coverage which means that it can fill in fine lines and pores. What’s more, liquid foundation is easier to apply especially for beginners. You’ll have fun practicing! Opt for a full-coverage and weightless formulation that’ll last the entire day. Avoid a product if it contains mineral oil and petrolatum since they clog your pores.

Use a makeup sponge.
Beauty enthusiasts can all agree that makeup sponges are a real game-changer. Makeup sponges help you blend foundation and reduce cakiness. A makeup sponge should be damp. Use warm water. Most importantly, make sure that you utilize a clean sponge - not one with leftover makeup. Apply the blending sponge all the way down to your neck to create an even shade. Invest in a high-quality makeup sponge - not those sponges that are thin and come in bulk.
Apply makeup primer.
You may not have heard about makeup primers yet but they sure create a smooth base for your foundation. Imagine a seamless blanket covering your face, making it velvety soft. That’s what a makeup primer does. Whether you’re dealing with troublesome fine lines or large pores, a makeup primer effectively covers them up. Give your primer enough time to settle onto your skin before you apply foundation.
Apply a thin layer of under-eye concealer after foundation (not before!)
A lot of women make the mistake of applying concealer before foundation. If you do this, you might end up putting on more foundation than you need or smearing the concealer around. After foundation, apply a small amount of under-eye concealer, concentrating on the area beneath your eyes. Blend carefully.
Start applying foundation in small amounts.
It’s easier to add foundation than to remove what you’ve already applied. Begin with a small amount of foundation and start at the center of your face, slowly blending outward. If you buy a foundation with a dropper, that would be great to avoid over-dispensing it. You’ll be able to enjoy the product longer.
