Set These 3 Goals for a Great Pro Cheer Year

Creating goals for yourself as someone performing for a sports team is essential. Everyone who wants to be successful in their field sets goals. This includes athletes, executives, and business owners. By setting goals, you’ll be able to increase your focus, maintain a positive attitude, care for yourself better, and enjoy this whole pro cheer and dance journey.

It’s not too late to develop new goals — you can always renew the ones you already have. After all, life situations change and we’re constantly looking to improve ourselves. If you need help with updating your goals or creating new ones, read this article.

Goal #1: Build a healthy morning routine.

Do your mornings set you up for success? Remember that what you do in the morning can determine the quality of your day. No matter what your schedule looks like (I’m sure most of us are busy) — protect your mornings.

Your morning could be the perfect time to do a focused, uninterrupted full-body workout, yoga, meditation, journaling, reading a good book, or catching the sun. You can also use it as an opportunity to prepare healthy, whole meals in advance for proper nourishment throughout the week.

Goal #2: Practice gratitude.

Gratitude is a great goal. Whatever the circumstances in your pro cheer career and personal life, there’s always something that you can be thankful for. Good things deserve to be noticed and appreciated. Don’t forget to express gratitude to yourself for your accomplishments — big or small. Research says that gratitude increases your happiness and health, and it strengthens your relationships.

Goal #3: Stop stressing about what others think.

It’s normal for humans to want to be liked and accepted by others. The problem with this, however, is it can lead to feelings of inadequacy and excessive worrying, which could affect your self-confidence. Not to mention, it can keep you from realizing your full potential as a dancer.

Beginning today, you can make it your goal to stop letting others’ thoughts hold you back. Start embracing the idea that it’s never your job to be liked. Define your own set of values. Show your most authentic self!

How to Reach These Goals

Now that you’ve set these goals, here’s how you can increase your chances of achieving them:

  •  Have reminders. Sticky notes, a wallpaper, or a woven bracelet can serve as a simple reminder to follow through on your goals. Reminders create the right conditions that increase your success.
  •  Jot down a list of your successes so far. It helps to pause and recall every good thing you’ve done for yourself. Even if these achievements are small, they still matter. Also, focus on your actions instead of results.
  •  Break down your goals into smaller pieces. Sometimes, big thinking can lead to disappointments because let’s face it — life gets in the way. Instead of going all in, focus on small actions that can still help with your situation. For example, instead of a full 30-minute workout, just do 15 minutes.

Here’s to your pro cheer goals and taking action!
