Skinimalism: What It Is and How to Practice it for Pro Cheer Beauty
Every year, women are getting more conscious of the products they put on their faces. This is because a lot of reports have surfaced that heavy makeup and multistep skincare routines are doing more harm than good for beauty.
Some even stay away from the practice of over beautifying for economic purposes. That’s why skinimalism was invented. Read on to find more about what it is, why you should follow the routine for pro cheer beauty, and how to properly do it.
What is Skinimalism?
Skinimalism is the art of doing your skincare and makeup routines in a minimalistic manner. It is different from natural beauty where you follow a healthier lifestyle while all your skincare products and cosmetics are made from natural ingredients.
Instead of wearing heavy makeup and following a complicated skincare routine daily, skinimalism makes you stay beautiful by making you use fewer skincare products. Choosing products with fewer active ingredients is also part of the skinimalism trend.
Why is Skinimalism Good for You As A Pro Cheerleader?
Too much can be harmful. Especially in cosmetics. Yes, wearing more makeup and following a more complicated skincare routine can make you very pretty. But being too harsh on your skin by exposing it to a lot of chemicals will eventually backfire.
Common problems that heavy skincare and makeup users face are redness, irritation, acne, premature aging, dry or oily skin, skin discoloration, allergies, clog pores, breakouts, and many more. This is because a lot of skin products contain harmful ingredients.
Using too many skin products is already expensive. Repairing skin damages also add to your costs. We talked about how saving money is important in a previous article. Following a complicated skincare routine and wearing heavy makeup takes too much of your time.
Through skinimalism, not only will your skin stay healthy, but you’ll also save a lot of money and time to spend on audition, squad prep, and your personal endeavors.
5 Tips on How to Practice Skinimalism
1. Follow the 3 by 2 principle
The 3 by 2 principle involves using a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen before going out and using a cleanser, moisturizer, and night cream before going to bed.
2. Less is better
On days when you want to wear makeup, skinimalism instructs you to keep it simple. That means just wearing light cream or powder foundation, lipstick, and eyebrow makeup. If you want, you can include using a blush.
3. Use all in one makeup
In addition to wearing few cosmetics, use foundations that do more than just to even out your skin tone. The products contain ingredients that can either keep your skin moisturized, protect it from the sun, make it look younger, or prevent acne. This is to help you stay beautiful without the need to apply multiple layers of makeup.
4. Exfoliate from time to time
You’ll need to remove dead skin cells to maximize the effect of your skincare products. Dead skin cells will also make it hard for your makeup to stick making you apply more. But over-the-counter exfoliators contain a lot of ingredients making it go against the principles of skinimalism. Use DIY body and face scrubs instead.
5. Consult a professional
We all have different skin types and dermatologists know a lot better. Consult with one to determine which skincare routine and makeup products are best for your skin especially if you suffer from acne.
It is good to practice skinimalism daily to keep your pretty face healthy. However, aspiring and current pro cheerleaders may be subjected to wear heavy makeup at specific times such as auditions, game day performances, and public appearances. So be sure to familiarize yourself with the makeup style used by your dream team or your squad so you can be fully prepared.
