Why Would You Want to Become a Professional Cheerleader?

We’ve been rolling out topics about how to improve your fitness, hone your dancing, boost your self-confidence, and more. In the process of preparing for the auditions, sometimes we lose clarity on our purpose. Why do you want to become a professional cheerleader? What’s in it for you? If this was your childhood dream, I know for sure that you have so many reasons to pursue it.
In case you’re not 100% sure why you want to be part of an NFL, NBA or another pro cheer team, I have listed some of the best reasons below. Remember: Knowing your WHY gives you a life that’s full of value.
Personal growth and achievement
Professional cheerleading helped me realize that I could achieve anything I wanted in life. Nothing is impossible if I give my 100% and stay focused. Any woman who has auditioned and failed knows that auditioning for the pros is a challenging journey. You spend months of preparation and there’s no way of telling whether you get chosen. If you ever make the team, professional cheerleading teaches you how to have a strong work ethic. Imagine the time commitment, the demands of the sport. You learn to stay glamorous, fit, confident, patient, strong, and positive!!!
Make lifelong friends

Friends are the family we choose for ourselves. Some women who audition for a pro cheer team do it to meet new people. It is true that when you’re in your 20s, you make bigger life decisions and with that, you don’t get to socialize that often. Professional cheerleading is an opportunity to build strong friendships with your cheer sisters. Together, you create magic on the field or court. You create memories that will last even after you move on from pro cheerleading.
Resume building and contacts
Your experience as a professional cheerleader will play a big role when you apply for a job. I proudly placed on my resume my involvement in the cheerleading and dance industry during the time I was interviewed for my first attorney job. Can you guess what other attorneys would ask me during the interviews? Yes, my time in professional cheerleading! Employees will know that you’ve acquired various skills and qualities that will help you be the best in your job such as speaking, coordinating, and being an excellent team member. Also, the connections you’ve made as a pro cheerleader may help you in a future career.
