Journaling Will Help You Create Your Pro Cheer Future
I know that not everyone who reads this blog post is a fan of writing in a journal. Some think that it’s a waste of time because they don’t really get the benefit of doing it.
Journaling has helped some of the world’s greatest minds like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison. Definitely, it’ll help you, an aspiring pro cheerleader, reach your goals. But how exactly will it aid you? What benefit can you gain? Most importantly, how do your journal effectively?
This guide is for you. Keep reading.
How Does Journaling Help You Reach Your Goal of Becoming a Professional Cheerleader?
1. A journal is the best place to write down notes, ideas, and anything that inspires you.
Basically, a journal is a treasure trove of ideas you think will help you in your pro cheer preparation. You can keep pieces of advice about fitness, dancing, and even motivation quotes that’ll keep you going. Everything in your journal is about you as a future professional cheerleader.
2. A journal helps you realize the progress you have made so far.
Most often than not, while we’re working on a goal, we tend to ignore the little successes we made along the way. The efforts you made that got you to where you are today, deserve to be recognized. A journal is where you record different things like the workouts you were able to do, food choices, and health habits.
3. A journal lets you move forward.
By seeing your progress, you’re able to plan for the future. What’s the next step to take? What areas in your pro cheer practice might need some enhancement? Is it the way you present yourself in public or how you answer questions? Were you able to complete 15 minutes of exercise each day for the past two weeks? Maybe now, an improvement will mean increasing that timeframe.
5 Journaling Tips That Work (for Whatever Goals You Have)
1. Write in the morning.
Morning is an ideal time to write in your journal because this is when you’re most relaxed, open, creative, and least distracted. Willpower is also at its highest level as we rise. Use that willpower to do something that benefits your preparation - journaling.
2. It can be structured and unstructured.
Remember that there is no right and wrong way to journal. You can plan ahead what to journal each day during your entire prep experience or you can simply follow your train of thought. Do what helps you express yourself best.
3. Start by asking the right questions.
Some people use journaling prompts to inspire them to write. A journaling prompt can be a positive question like, “What will make my workout more enjoyable today?” or “How can I take better care of my body today?”
4. Add pictures.
Visuals are powerful tools that’ll help you hone in on your goals. To see is to believe. Print and paste a photo of a current pro cheer member of your dream squad that inspires you to work harder. Or, you can paste photos of your body in a way that shows your progress in a month’s time.
5. Practice gratitude.
The more grateful you are, the more optimistic you become. When you’re optimistic, you don’t give up easily on your pro cheer goals. The end result is that you improve. Why not radiate self-love and treat your pro cheer prep as a blessing and opportunity to pursue something bigger than yourself? Write down all the resources you already have - support from family, friends, or a fitness community. Maybe books that helped you or advice from likeminded individuals.
