Little Ways to Be More Positive About Your Audition Prep
One of the most important things you should possess to boost your chances of making your dream team is a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. The question is, do you have it right now?
Every aspiring pro cheerleader has messages playing over and over in her mind. It's great if these messages are positive. But too often than not, they're negative. Here are common examples of poor thought patterns:
- Whenever I try something new, I always fail.
- If I don't make the team this year, it's going to be the end of me.
- I feel bad about my practice today because of [a person] or [situation].
As you can already tell, it all starts in the mind. If you want a better performance and successful results overall, you need to start changing your inner world of thoughts.
Here are small ways to become more positive:
1. Practice gratitude regularly.
Here's a powerful secret to chase away the clouds immediately: Find something to be thankful for in your pro cheer journey! Declare things like I am thankful for this moment to exercise outdoors or I am thankful for supportive people in my life! Doing this opens your eyes to opportunities. It reminds you of life's blessings.
2. Cultivate a positive environment.
True, there are some things that we cannot control. These include what other people say, think, feel, and do. You also cannot control the weather or getting sick! However, you can cultivate an environment that positively impacts your journey. For example, how you spend your free time. You could spend it working on your dancing than watching TV or wasting time on Facebook.
3. Eat healthy food.
You might think this tip is irrelevant, but yes, food affects your feelings more than you realize! If you start your day with a healthy zero-sugar and protein-rich breakfast, you'll not just have stable energy levels, but you'll also feel good about yourself! Because of that, you're more motivated to make good decisions throughout the day.
4. Surround yourself with positive influences.
Motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Knowing this, you must start thinking about outside influences. Are you surrounding yourself with the right people? These people can be friends who are passionate about fitness, former pro cheerleaders or current candidates you connect with online, or even authors of the books you read or motivational podcasts you listen to!
5. Keep a compliment file.
Some people like keeping a file or notebook of all the good things that others say about them. Whenever they need a happy pill, they take a peek at their file and start to feel appreciated. Did someone give a compliment about your weight loss or hair? Write it down! Or did a friend of yours say that they admire your self-confidence? Write that one down, too.
