Persistence: How Can It Lead To Pro Cheer Success?
If you’re wondering how successful people reach their dreams, they won’t answer you with having luck, money, or support. One word will come out of their mouth - persistence.
What use is luck in the auditions if you’re not tenacious enough to stay in the squad after being accepted? What good is having all the resources for dieting, makeup, and fitness equipment available if you won’t endure during your audition preparations?
The answer is nothing. Luck, support, and money are useless if you lack the determination to hold on to the pro cheer dream. Change your attitude now and nab that pro cheer success by learning persistence.
What is Persistence and Why Does It Matter?
Persistence is a personality trait to continue working over and over again in achieving a goal despite being tired or frustrated. In the life of an aspiring or current pro cheerleader, there will be times where you grow tired of working out every day or follow a strict diet just to maintain your figure.
You’ll just want to say, ”Screw it, I’m out!” and abandon your dream of being a pro cheerleader or staying in the squad. This is why persistence is important, without it, you’ll easily let go of your pro cheer dreams.
How To Be More Persistent To Achieve Your Goals
1. Figure what you really want
A lot of women want to be pro cheerleaders because of the glamour in the profession. They see smiling, dancing, and stunting women on TV or in the arena. What they don’t know is, the path to make the squad and stay in it is hard.
Ask yourself these questions, “Do you really want to be a pro cheerleader? Are you willing to follow a strict fitness routine for the auditions and beyond?”
2. Know your reason for achieving that goal
If you’re really sure that you want to stay and be a part of a pro cheer team then figure out your reason for it. Whatever it is, it must be solid and strongly inspiring to pick you back up every time you feel like giving up.
3. Constantly remind yourself of that reason
Write your reason down in your journal. Memorize it if you have to. Have it framed and hang it on your kitchen wall. Or have it made into your phone’s wallpaper. Every time you start complaining of eating a pescatarian diet for weeks, look at the frame. Do the same thing to your phone every time you feel tired with sore muscles.
4. Believe you can achieve your goal
Stop saying you can’t do this and that. The more you think like that the more it is likely to happen. Always be eager to try and do your best.
5. Create a series of simple and practical steps
Don’t make it hard on yourself. Make time for your social and personal life as well. A good example is to eat less and healthily so you won’t require a strict diet. You can also follow a short High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program so you won’t need a lot of time for exercising and have more time for your social life.
6. Be prepared to fail while remaining mentally strong
Failure will happen regardless of planning and how careful you are. What matters is, you can just shrug off any feeling of discouragement. Laugh at your failure if you have to. Like they say, “Laughter is the best medicine.”
7. Don’t make giving up as part of the options
Your options should be made of plan A to Z and giving up or the same thought shouldn’t be included in one of them. Not even one letter.
8. Build tenacity
When you’re done laughing at your failures, pains, and discouragements, learn from it. Answer these questions, ”How and why did that happen? Is there a way to avoid it next time?” Then, apply what you’ve learned to be more successful next time.
Not every person is born with the trait of persistence. But that’s nothing to worry about. You can train yourself to be persistent by always telling yourself these two words, “I CAN.” Laugh a little in times of trouble. Learn from your mistakes. And the most important thing, keep a firm grip on your pro cheer goals.
