How to Stop Making Excuses and Start Taking Responsibility for Your Pro Cheer Goals

We all have our inner demons. Each one focused on dragging us down further away from our full potential and goals. In this article, we’re going to face your inner Belphegor - the demon of laziness and excuses.

This demon is known to particularly target your previous failures. It uses your fear of taking risks and making actions against you. Then shower you with the negative thoughts and knowledge of coming up excuses just to keep you in your comfort zone.

However, there are different ways to beat it and keep it out forever. These ways will ensure that you will become that pro cheer angel you dream and deserve to be.

1.   Bury the memory of previous failures

We all have bad memories that make it hard for us to sleep at night. It might be your previous audition experience. What’s worse, that memory discourages you from pursuing your pro cheer goal.

But that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s in the past and nobody cares, you shouldn’t as well.

2.   Woman up to your mistakes

Stop thinking that you need luck to succeed. Stop blaming the fates for your failures as well. Skill, talent, and hard work are needed to pass the auditions. Not chances. Understand that you think you’ll fail because you rely on chance.

Focus on workouts, diet, and dance practice. These are some of the ways to secure the favor of judges.

3.   Learn to stand up from every fall and stay standing

Brooding leads you to nowhere. There’s no use to mope over a skipped workout session or giving in to your unhealthy food cravings. Take the experience as a lesson. Move on from it and make new plans so you can focus on your audition goals next time.

4.   Face your fear of failure and committing mistakes

The thought of making mistakes and facing failure is petrifying, especially if your pro cheer dreams are at stake. But, there’s always a chance it’ll happen. So expect it. The thing is, you’ll freeze yourself by fear if you don’t have audition preparation plans.

Being ready gives you courage. And when you do, you’ll be able to forget about negative thoughts. In the end, whether you succeed or fail, it doesn’t matter anymore. Because you know deep inside that you gave your all.

5.   Recognize the need to step out of your comfort zone

In order to go to places you’ve never gone before, you must do things you never did. If you were never a confident person, you must learn to be one to pass the auditions. If you aren’t too fond of makeup, you must learn to apply them yourself. It is a requirement for all pro cheerleaders.

6.   Focus on your goal and motivation

When you’ve set your sights on being one of the stars to dazzle the arena, don’t let anything get in your way. Especially your own. You yourself are your greatest enemy. Why? Because nobody can motivate yourself but your own. Nobody can hold you back but yourself and the excuses you make.

7.   Stop comparing yourself to others

Pro cheerleaders are very glamorous and eye-catching on the job. Seeing one alone sets your standards too high. You might even get discouraged thinking to yourself, “I’m not pretty and confident like her.” or “I’ll never be fit like her.”

I tell you what, they were once like you. They trained hard and prepared thoroughly for the auditions. They focused on their own instead of others. Look where they are now.

8.   Learn to distinguish playing safe from holding back

We all find ourselves in a position where we think it’s not worth our time to take risks. Sometimes it’s for the better. Sometimes inaction makes us regret. But when you really want to be a pro cheerleader, you’ll find every gamble worthy.

You’ll realize that you have nothing big to lose. Failure gives valuable experience. This experience teaches us a lesson. And you would never learn if you didn’t take a risk.

9.   Believe you always have more than enough resources

You don’t need a lot of money to be the perfect pro cheer candidate. No treadmill? Run outside or do cardio exercises. Can’t afford expensive care products? Make some DIY exfoliants. Every problem doesn’t require wealth to solve.

What you need are time and effort. Things that you are in abundance of. And one last thing: The will to act. Only you can hold yourself back.

You alone have the power to realize your pro cheer goals. There is no luck or resource factor. What matters is the persistent attitude to rise up from every fall. The tenacity to follow your audition plans. An ingenious mind to utilize every opportunity and resource available. And lastly, success happens when you stop making excuses and start to move.
