4 Ways to Energize Your Water for Better Hydration and Vigor

Drinking a lot of water is essential for athletes and that includes pro cheerleaders. The problem is that most of us don’t pay attention to hydration because we find plain water boring.

Instead, we opt for sugary and flavored drinks like soda or juices that cause even more dehydration, weight gain, and worse - a nasty energy crash. But it doesn’t always have to be that way.

You can make ordinary water taste better and have more health benefits by knowing various product alternatives, natural ingredients, and natural water purification processes. To know more about how to energize your plain drinking water, keep on reading.

1. Solar and Lunar light

Charging water with the glow of the sun and moon using a blue glass bottle changes its physical, chemical, and biological properties through the process of chromotherapy. While this obviously kills pathogens and bacteria in the water through heat and UV radiation, it also makes the water highly reactive and energized.

A lot of solar and lunar-charged water drinkers report that drinking the water improved their mental focus and physical hydration. Some even said that charged water tasted better than processed and ordinary varieties. One study showed that bottles wrapped in different colors store potential energy from the sun when exposed to sunlight.

To charge your water with the light of the sun and moon, fill a blue glass bottle with tap, spring, or mineral water. Close the bottle and leave it outside your home where it can bask under the sun and moon’s light for 24 hours.

2. Minerals

Electrolytes like magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium are essential minerals. They are needed for the vital functions of your body. They also help your body retain more water which you’ll need for workouts, dance practices, and live arena performances during hot weather.

Oral rehydration salts/solutions contain a lot of electrolytes and are commonly given for those suffering dehydration from diarrhea. However, a lot of athletes mix them with water as an energy drink. If you don’t like the taste of ORS, Pocari Sweat in its powdered form might be right for your palate. It’s also cheap and you can bring sachets everywhere you go.

3. Herbs and fruity infusions

Mint is the best herb to infuse with your water for a refreshing drink. It’s good for cooling your body down and hydrates it during hot weather. It’s also rich in essential minerals plus phosphorus and iron. If you want to add a few carbs and make your infused drinks taste sweeter, including honey is a healthy way to do so.

For a more fruity drink, lemon or berry infusions would be the right choice. The vitamin C and antioxidants found in these fruits will boost your energy levels so you can practice dancing or work out for longer durations. Lemon also helps you lose weight by increasing your metabolism and suppressing your appetite.

4. Powdered energy drink

Are you part of the athletic community that prefers to draw most of your energy from caffeine rather than electrolytes? Energy drinks would be your obvious choice. However, the problem with energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster is that they contain too much sugar with little to zero electrolytes.

By choosing affordable powdered products from Zipfizz, Nuun Sport, Pureboost, and Celsius, you can mix and enjoy your own energy drinks with more natural ingredients, electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals with less sugar.

Remember that having all the necessities to create and process your energized water is useless if you can’t contain the final product and take it with you wherever you’ll go. Make sure that you have a water bottle and a bag big enough to store the vessel so you can stay hydrated and energized no matter how challenging the tasks you’ll face.
