Hacks to Motivate Yourself to Get out of Bed for a Morning Workout

Do you hear your inner voice complaining when getting out of bed early in the morning, say 5:00 am? While leaving the comfort of your warm blanket on a cold morning is such a hard thing to do, so does finding motivation for a workout at this time. But there are many good reasons for working out in the morning:

  • You're more energetic throughout the day.
  • You're less likely to skip the workout.
  • You sleep better at night.
  • Your workouts are maximized.

So today, Pro Cheer Life brings you 10 tips to motivate yourself out of your bed for the morning workout:

1. Dress the night before.

Yes, sleep in your workout clothes. Waking up to your gym clothes make you remember and rally to the commitment you made to yourself the night before. Not only that, it helps you save a lot of time. The moment you wake up, all you have to do is get off the bed and bolt out of your place for a good morning workout.

2. Put the alarm away from your bed.

One of the reasons why you can’t commit to early morning activities is because the snooze button is just near your reach. Take your alarm somewhere far where the sound would still wake you and at the same time make you stand up.

3. Get some coffee!

Of course, coffee is the perfect stimulant to wake up you up in the morning. Also, drinking coffee an hour before your exercise will cause your body to use fat cells as energy. Now, mixing with it a morning exercise would help you burn even more fat.

4. Have a fitness accountability buddy.

Sometimes workouts are skipped, and diets aren’t followed because of laziness and a weak will. We make pathetic excuses for this behavior. The right remedy is to have someone nag and motivate us to do better. This is where a fitness accountability partner comes in - someone who you can share a goal and challenge with. If you have trouble finding one, there are a lot of fitness accountability apps, programs, and sites to help you in your goals.

5. Remind yourself of how you’ll feel afterward.

Thinking of a morning workout can feel daunting but reflecting on its ability to take you to your goal (making your team) is much more rewarding than lazing out. With a jumpstarted morning by a workout, you feel empowered and confident to face the day with a smile.

6. Wash your face with cold water to wake up!

If you feel groggy after leaving the bed then wash your face with cold water to wake yourself up. Not only that, it helps preserve the healthy natural skin oils and protects your skin against the morning sun rays.

7. Look forward to a healthy and tasty breakfast.

You will starve after a workout which is why you have to reward yourself with a delicious and healthy meal. Have a high fiber and protein breakfast ready such as Oatmeal, Egg, and Yogurt.

8. Create a non-negotiable workout schedule.

There is time for everything and that includes a morning workout. But there are also certain mornings where we have to deal with a lot of stuff. If that morning is guaranteed to have no obligations, then fit a workout schedule there. You have the option to have a whole week, the weekdays only or a weekend only morning workout schedule.

9. Have some workout tunes ready.

You’re probably hearing Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger right now, but morning workout music isn’t limited to movie clichés. Your personal tastes that keep the blood pumping in your body could be better, so ready that playlist, import or sync it on your phone, mp3 or iPod and have it get you all pumped up.

10. Acknowledge your efforts.

You’ll find yourself saying “I can’t believe I did it, I’ve beaten my laziness, I’m better than who I was yesterday. My body feels lighter now and I’m feeling good. Wow!” Now fill yourself with that healthy breakfast you prepared and face the day with a huge smile on your face.
