How To Hydrate Your Hair Without Making It Greasy

Why is hair an extremely important part of your body as a professional cheerleader candidate? Your hair is so special because it is one of the things that the judges notice. It's also a symbol of femininity and freedom. Beautiful hair always leaves a positive impression, which is why you should care for it. If you're going to make your dream team, you'll be using your hair a lot -- think about those hair flips.

In this blog post, I'm showing you one of the best hair care tips -- hydration. Whether your hair is straight or kinky, hydration keeps it shiny and strong.

How to Hydrate Your Hair

1. Use a lightweight conditioner

A lightweight conditioner is perfect for women with fine hair. Stay away from rich conditioner products as they will make your hair flatter and greasy. Look for ingredients such as glycerin or glycerol.

2. Use a creamy conditioner

Curly-haired and thick-haired beauties out there will benefit from a deep hydrating conditioner. Such conditioner compensates for the lack of moisture at the scalp area. Also, consider applying a leave-in conditioner to prevent frizziness and maintain healthy-looking hair all day.

3. Avoid conditioning your scalp

Your approach to conditioning could be to blame. Never apply conditioner to the roots of your hair. Natural oils are concentrated in this area. Instead, apply conditioner from the mid-length to the tips.

4. Choose an ammonia-free hair color

While ammonia has been used in hair coloring products to produce a richer color, repeated use can cause brittleness and dryness to your hair. You don't want that. Ammonia-free hair color is easier on your scalp and may contain natural oils to preserve hair shine.

5. Keep yourself hydrated

Water is an essential component of your body. It circulates nutrients and contributes to cell growth and health. If you don't drink enough water, it will show not only in your skin but also in your hair. So be sure to drink plenty of water especially during warmer months.

6. Apply a heat protectant spray

The more you use heat on your hair (blow-drying, ironing, etc.) the greater the damage to the hair fiber. However, it's not easy to let go of these styling products especially if they're part of your daily routine to look and feel good. The next time you style your hair, apply a heat protection spray first. Silicone or dimethicone forms a protective layer on your hair so that it doesn't frizz and will stay soft.
