How To Make Time To Achieve Your Goal Of Becoming A Pro Cheerleader

So you want to try out for an NFL or NBA pro cheer team. One of the biggest challenges that aspiring pro cheerleaders face is finding the time each day to make their dream come true. Most of us tend to put off the work until tomorrow, and then we realize that tomorrow never happens.

When you don't get to audition or were able to audition but didn't make the team because of a lack of preparation, it's easy to blame the situation on not having enough time. So how do you find the time for your goal? Whether this is your first or fifth time to audition, here are tips that will help you make time for anything - working out, honing your dance technique, developing your flexibility, etc.

Reduce your commitments.

If you don't have the time for working on even a single material for pro cheer audition, that's because there's a lot going on in your life. You need to understand that having too many things to do will leave you with no time for preparation. The solution? Unload yourself of commitments. SIMPLIFY! Learn to say no to requests. Do something in advance. Ask for help or outsource.

Use your mornings or use your nights (whichever works for you).

If you're a morning person, set your alarm earlier so you can get up before everyone else does and use that time to work on your pro cheer audition goals. The best thing about mornings is that you're less likely to get interrupted by anything - noise, your family, and text messages. Also, your mind is fresh from a good night's sleep.

On the other hand, working on your goals at nighttime (before you go to sleep) is also a good thing if you really find mornings to be inconvenient. To avoid feeling tired, take a 20-30 minute nap in the afternoon.

Use your daily commute productively.

Why not make better use of your morning commute for audition prep? No, I don't mean you have to move around - that's impossible. Here are some things you can do:

  • Write down your audition preparation schedule or checklist for the week
  • Read and memorize the pieces of information you researched last night about the team
  • Listen to a self-improvement podcast from your phone on developing your self-confidence, staying calm, and public speaking
  • Rehearse your dance routine in your mind

Identify your biggest time wasters!

There will always be things in your life that are of low value and prevent you from working on what's really important. These time wasters can be the television, partying, social media, or mindlessly surfing the web. Cut out one or two of these activities and use the freed up time for audition preparation.
