3 Small Things You Can Do Right Now to Improve Your Pro Cheer Audition Prep
I’ve always been a believer in small actions. It’s not the huge gestures or big decisions that transform your life -- it’s the consistent steps you take each day. If you’re here because you want to audition for a pro cheer team and know that there’s a lot of work to be done (but you have no idea where to start), here are simple things you can do starting today.
Schedule a non-negotiable hour for fitness.
Fitness is one of the huge aspects that the judges consider when deciding whether to bring you into the team or not. Having said this, schedule a daily workout session and stick to it no matter what. Remember, it’s non-negotiable! Start with 20-30 minutes if 1 hour is too much. Make every fitness session fun and focused.

Review what you’ve learned from your dance class.
Yes, dancing is another huge requirement in professional cheerleading. If you haven’t signed up for a dance class to improve your dance technique, make sure you do today or within the week. Keep on reviewing old pieces even when you get home from practice. If you have recorded videos at the studio or downloaded clips of your dream cheer team, I suggest that you break them down. Focus on one move that you can refine each day.
Here’s a resource that will improve your flexibility for your dancing:
Practice your makeup look.
If you’re not the type who puts on makeup, I highly recommend that you work on creating a look that will make you stand out beautifully on the big day. Keep in mind that you’re going to wear a full-face. This includes everything from primer to concealer to lip color. Look through pictures of the current members of your dream squad. Duplicate the look of each member to see if it suits you. Watch YouTube videos on makeup techniques especially when it comes to concealing redness and acne scars.
